AV UP – New Skills for the AV Industry

The AV industry is highly seasonal, and certain roles occasionally face a shortage of workforce. Rapid technological development, a fragmented operational field, and partially uncoordinated collaboration between educational institutions and employers characterize the industry. The AV industry has growth potential, but the operating conditions vary across different regions in Finland.
Background and Goals
The AV UP initiative is derived from TEM and OKM’s Creative Economy roadmap and the growth agreement within the audiovisual (AV) industry. Recognizing the unique challenges of a small market and language area, AV UP seeks to eliminate internal competition and foster robust cooperation. This collaboration spans across industry, educational institutions, and community stakeholders, ensuring a cohesive advancement strategy.
Objectives
We aim to:
- Enhance information flow among stakeholders
- Foster employment through the advancement of both degree-oriented and continuous education
- Expand international expertise
- Establish a comprehensive model for ongoing development in the AV industry’s operations
Procedures
The project will be executed through five key work packages:
- Analyzing the current structures, resources, and skill requirements of the AV industry.
- Developing a model to anticipate systematic changes and skill needs within the industry.
- Creating and testing small skill set pilots for AV industry skills development.
- Implementing financing solutions for training programs that support industry growth.
- Establishing a supportive operational model for enhancing industry know-how and stakeholder collaboration.
